Our great joy at Fall Creek Abbey is to

live a life that is right-sized for our season; one where small things are cherished, slowness is a virtue, and solitude is a welcomed relief from a

busy, noisy world.

This was a major theme when God prompted us to launch the Abbey in 2011 (formerly called Sustainable Faith Indy).

As its hosts, we’ve currently welcomed over 9000 guests to this still point in our city where individuals step away from responsibilities of life and reorient their heart to the loving heart of God.

Beth is the author of five books, including Awaken Your Senses and Starting Something New: Spiritual Direction for Your God-given Dream, where she tells the story of Fall Creek Abbey. We recently celebrated the release of our first book together, When Faith Becomes Sight, through InterVarsity Press, a recipient of the Reader's Choice Award for 2019.

David has his M.Div. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and continues his private practice in college and career counseling with Direction 4 Life Work.

Both of us received our training in spiritual direction through Sustainable Faith, an organization with more than 20 training sites around North America and Europe. We owe a debt of gratitude to Sustainable Faith who served as a supportive presence during the first six years of Sustainable Faith Indy/Fall Creek Abbey’s life.

As trained spiritual directors we spend a good deal of our days sitting with women and men who want to hear God’s voice of invitation and respond whole-heartedly. We both feel as if we’ve come home to a ministry posture we were made for. From the beginning of the Abbey, we began training others in this quiet ministry of spiritual direction.

For the past nine years, we’ve had the great joy of facilitating more than a dozen cohorts of gifted men and women who are now scattered around Central Indiana and beyond offering loving presence to God’s people.
